Strahan
The baby of the Lake Leather family has, at the time of writing, just had it's first birthday. Opened in January '22, you will find our west coast baby in prime position on the Esplanade in the beautiful waterside village of Strahan. You will find the same quality leather goods that we stock at the other stores, as well as a unique selection of homewares- think natural fibre brushware from Germany and England, brass ornaments and much more- we don't stock at the other stores.
Our west coast home is in iconic Union Steamship Building opposite the Gordon Rover Cruise building right in the centre of town. Built in 1904, the buildings architecture is testament to the importance of Strahan as a shipping port in the past. Historically this deep water port was a safe harbour for ships transporting both people and cargo for the mining and pining industries around the west coast, and from Tasmania's capital city Hobart up the west coast to the north of the state and beyond.
Nowadays, Strahan is the premier destination for fabulous holiday experiences on Tassie's wild west coast. With the amazing river cruises, magical steam train journeys, dune driving, walking and mountain biking adventures for visitors from Tasmania and around the world right on our doorstep, Strahan is a must visit stop on your Tassie tour.
